Executive Resume Writing Format
Here’s a simple tip that can increase your chances of getting your resume noticed. It’s a very simple change, but one that very few people bother to use. And that is by typing the resume on a colored piece of paper!
It doesn’t have to be an ostentatiously colorful resume. But small changes can make a big difference.
Use pastel colored paper for your resume. Don’t stick with the boring white paper. The white paper is going to blend in with the hundreds of other resumes that’s been submitted. A yellow pastel paper will stick out of the stack of resumes. Increasing the chance of your resume actually getting read and perhaps even get a chance to get a personal interview.
Make sure to include a cover letter with your resume for more stickiness. The cover letter should be short and point out the reasons of why the company should hire you.
Your resume including the cover letter should only be two pages. At the most three pages. Any more than that is too long.
The font type and size I like to use for a resume is Arial 10 point font. Other types of fonts that are reader friendly are Times New Roman, Georgia, Verdana, and Tahoma.
Following these format rules should help your resume to stick out. And increase your chances of securing an interview.
All the best,
Carl
